About Us

John Dickinson is an oral historian and educator, helping preserve the rich culture and history of the Lowcountry. He has worked on and overseen a variety of oral history projects in the Savannah, Georgia area, including the Jewish World War II Veterans Oral History Project (part of the Veterans Oral History Project for the Library of Congress), the Thunderbolt Community Oral History Project, and others. John received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University, majoring in History, as well as his Master’s Degree in History with a concentration in Public History. In addition to his work with the Coastal Oral History Project, John teaches courses at Armstrong Atlantic State University and is the oral historian for the Savannah History Museum. John also works with the Georgia Historical Society. John is proficient in digitization techniques for preserving sound and video oral history archives. John is also a member of the Organization of American Historians and the National Counsel for Public History.
