Overview

The Coastal Oral History Project provides professional recording, processing, and archiving of oral histories.

Residents of Coastal Georgia, the South Carolina Lowcountry, and North Florida have numerous stories to share for posterity, but many communities, museums, and historical societies do not have the technical resources to collect, process, and maintain access to those stories. COHP provides the necessary equipment in a cost effective manner to record and archive the information. Further, it provides the client with a copy of the oral history project, while also maintaining a copy as part of the oral history archives at the Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah, Georgia. COHP can also digitize your museum's or historical society's collection of cassette or video oral histories and help you put your history online, making them more accessible and user-friendly.

COHP is an excellent resource for capturing memories shared at family reunions. By capturing family stories on site at the reunion, COHP provides a unique way to forever preserve valuable family history. The finished product is a DVD to share with family, and a copy can be permanently housed in a university archive.
